After taking a course on GIS (GEOB 270), I have came to realize the effort it takes to make a map, having to take account for unimaginable things (other than finding the data) such as aesthetics, uncertainties, ethics, and saving data. Despite the time it took to produce the maps, it always brought me sheer joy once it has been completed. I enjoy the process of working through challenges and seeing the final product. I have learnt that finding data and projecting it is not simple. In this course, I was lucky to obtain the data through data given by UBC or online databases. I have a new appreciation for map making and the process that goes into it.
